  • I am growing Watermelon and Squash. I have noticed that the plants have less bugs and disease when I grow them up the trellis netting than if I let them grow on the ground. The problem is how do I support the fruit?

Answer: All you need is a pair of panty hose. When the fruit starts to form you take a 1 or 2 foot piece of panty hose tie a knot in the bottom (if you have the toe at the bottom then you do not need to tie a knot) slip the open end over the fruit and anchor the panty hose to the trellis support. The panty hose will expand as the fruit grows & if supported correctly will take the weight of the fruit off the plants.
